Mean girls

I babysit pretty frequently, and it makes me wonder what I will do when I become a parent. It also makes me remember certain difficult aspects of being a child, particularly the time that puberty throws your whole world upside-down.

It was (and is) a jungle out there!

I can't imagine what it would be like with cell phones, blogs, facebook or myspace.

Ann Bartow from Feministlawprofessors, which I have to give major props to for curating a great mix of interesting topics in a concise manner, posted the few videos put out by the Ad council targeting cyberbullying.





Ann makes a good point that these videos focus on women, being both the bullies and the victims.

The NY Times has a piece by Peggy Klaus just recently about women bullying in the workplace:

And if you are a woman and happen to have a female co-worker who is a bully, watch out. A recent study by the Workplace Bullying Institute examining office behaviors — like verbal abuse, job sabotage, misuse of authority and destroying of relationships — found that female bullies aim at other women more than 70 percent of the time. Bullies who are men, by contrast, tend to be equal-opportunity tormentors when it comes to the gender of their target.
